About

Hi, I’m Tori, a teacher and Mom living in the Colorado mountains. Here are a few fun facts about me:

  • I am adopted and grew up with my family in Atlanta, Georgia.
  • I moved to Colorado to take a break from teaching and became a Ski Patroller for 8 years. It was the best job in the world, but after I had my first child I decided I wanted to go back to the classroom.
  • I am a very Type B/ADHD teacher and Mom. My classroom looks clean-ish, but I am never planned more than a day in advance and I “wing it” most of the time. I find I do my best teaching when I am not overthinking it. At home, my house is never clean, there is always a pile of laundry somewhere, and there’s probably a half eaten rotting banana in the backseat of my car right now that I’ve forgotten to throw away for a week now.
  • When I’m not teaching or parenting, you’ll probably find me outside—mountain biking, skiing, lifting weights, running, or soaking up the Colorado sunshine. Movement and nature are my therapy.
  • I absolutely love to travel, but in this phase of life it’s challenging with little ones. Adventuring these days is definitely more of a trip than a vacation! I’m excited for when they are both a little older and we can make some core memories as a family.
  • Health and wellness play a major role in my life. For many years, I struggled with being significantly overweight. After college, I made the decision to take control of my health and, through consistent diet and exercise, I lost over 100 pounds. Like many, my journey hasn’t been linear. I gained about 20 pounds following the heartbreaking loss of my mom—just six months before my wedding—and then went on to have two children. I’m still on the path to reaching a weight that feels healthy and strong for me, but I’m proud of the progress I’ve made and the direction I’m heading.
  • I am also very passionate about providing healthy food for my children. I won’t get into my thoughts on the standard American diet here, but you will surely see many blog posts about it.
